I am convinced that the most important point to be taken from this experiment , is that of questioning authority.
I mean, how many people assume the guards are right? How often in society do we see this paradigm? Just because those guys are in power and the other guys are behind bars, whatever they do to maintain order must be ok.
Now , with the courageous revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt, and now Libya, wow what examples of abuse of power! And how countries that supposedly don't do this, went along with them. i.e our own country.
Which brings us to an uncomfortable question: are we also that way? And if so, are we that in a way we don't know, which is why we get pulled in by these guys? Like, are we naive ? Do we use power that we have achieved in ways that are abusive to others. to other countries, to other immigrants not of the founding father tradition in this country? We vilify Osama bin LAden right. Yet perhaps Mubarak killed more innocent people and was more against freedom than Osama bin Laden. Yet look at our stance today. To me this is why this experiment is sooo important to understand now. We must look beyond the obvious comparisons to prisons. It brings to light the way people mold themselves into authorities...look to please them when they have no sense of higher order themselves.
Also, this can go into discussions of psychology. For example, how the person tried to please their parents, or what sort of authority figure were they.
similarily, a discussion i would like to have is that of the authority of nations. How does a government , or lack there of, i.e. whatever takes the place, the role of authority of a country. How people allow it..is it lack of creating their own order? Does a country with more individuals who are capable of creating their own order, demand more freedom. And isn't this a cycle? i.e. don't there need to be laws that protect people's growth and functionality so that they can indeed become these kind of individuals? Isn't the beauty of the United
States supposedly this weird irony, that we guranteee freeedoms that could ultimately topple over the very government? weird, right? Yet that is what i believe Benjamin Franklin or others had in mind. It is sort of like, give me liberty or give me death. Paul Revere.
To me, this all is very important in analyzing Mexico. I am fascinated with Mexico. I believe it has so much ridiculous potential. It is ready to explode. The things we are seeing right now, are signs that the society is ready for a major overhaul. The whole Fox thing, the changing of parties in government. Nearly a joke, Sure it gave some glimmers of hope and opened them up to being less fascist- like. However, they realize now ,after two presidents of this party, that they need more serious overhaul. More serious analysis, more serious answers.
Not to make it too easy, but I i will give one hint about where the answer lies: In their sense of concept of authority. And this is a discussion that will have huge effects for the continent. And when the US decides to become a part of it, it will be interesting and relevant yes, to the USA. Because we are not alone. We do no exist on this continent or this planet alone. And we must cognize that beginning with here. Someday, going to China will no longer fill that gap. There is a gap, perhaps even a guilty one, s it should be, for not participating in our own continent. Perhaps we don't don't really feel entirely comfortable here. So we move around. Create distractions from the reality that we never really made it with the natives. We never really connected. And while the world was larger, more incommunicable place, perhaps it was less obvious. But now, isn't weird the way the USa and perhaps Canada don't know about the natives of America? And they are not "gone" uh, like they might have thought in the past, the future would look like. They might have ignored that the Spanish were mixing with the natives. Entering into their spritulaties. Preserving culture. Yes, the Spanish dominated, and they still exploit. They still own many of the businesses. They still psychology control the people by establishing that white skin is better.

hey
The ideas i filtered from the hearing about the Stanford experiment, thanks to an Islamicity.org article , and of watching the movie.
I conclude that the amount of power people derive from being given power is huge. And of those who are failures in life, such as the man who was 42 and living at home, and became the most sadistic, power loving one, i realized just how much of a great thing this must be for some people. So the essence of power is sexy addictive pleasurable.
So?
What does that mean for future control?
What does that mean for those who control those in control also?
Fore xample, these guards are like regurgitating the rules. They have power but still see the power of another, i.e. the experimenter, as above theirs. And part of their pleasure is to fulfill those rules. They get into technicalities. They believe they understand . But, do they? Or are they just puppets to the game of those with the intellect and real power? Forget about money. Often times too many nations and too many people think many things are about money, and miss out on the power of intellect and power itself. Those do not always lie in the hands of those with money. And yet they wield control over many events, circumstances, and structures.
So how does this help us to understand the modern day world?
Or the interaction of countries?
In living in Mexico, i see how many ideas they have wrong, how many ideas they live by, thinking those in control do this or that, that hte world is run certain way...thus they fulfill a belief system. Which then sustains a world butilin multiple belief system stha have somehow stacked dinto a world structure. Because liek we saw withtha tman who took too mcuh leewy in interpretinghte meanignof wht htose in control "wnted" i.e. to keep the prisoner under control. these countires too live witha certain fear and ssuem that ooooh, Teh us wants us tu s to do this, becasue they wnt this and htis. So we have to do this and this , tour own people. The sad thing is, htose inteh US in power hwo are askign wrid things out of Mexic oadn other countires ( because thakignthis example even further asno cse example I am giving is pure inf orm) then the US in another angle is also like the guard in the sense of drunk with the power it perceives it has. HAs teh US used wisely teh power it has? ANdhow has it ahcieved suhc power? Is it by dong waht the guards did? Takingmore andmroe power, until now, in todya world, it is just assumed? How sad relly. how lask of a democracy, ona wrodl scale, tha tis. And to be honet, i don[t know for usre I beleive that tha us fo r who are thye?? and hwo cares actually..i mean i woruld rather know if the mexico belives ...do we all believe teh world shoudl bea democracy?Equally represnted intot he world itself...?
Or are soem countires, i.e. teh US and Europe, fascinated by tehir own power. Imeant, 500 yersa go they cam here, adn hyponotized hte natives adn took over. However there are many points of view to that. AFter livign in MExico, you realize tah slowly but surely after 500 years poepel wise up. Tehydefintley wise up. And i will advert USA taht MExicans are the natives. Teh usa hinks they did asway with the antieves. Well, maybe here, but ebefor eall that there were nolines dividing, infact MExcio ran all the way up CAlifornia. So teh antieves wer note eliminted. Tehirpoint of view, their esence, their spirituality, their outlook on teh world, their charm, their hospitality, theri joy, it lives on in Mexicnas. ANd i haven't livedin CEntral or South AMerica, but i know for suer the e same is there. So I kow MExico adn ohters have wisened up to the fact tha ttodya, USA is alndof immigrants, Noone who truly represents this continent and possibly its real survival as we witnesssed with how the BP oil spill was handled by supposed memebr s fo thsi sontine who call htemselves Americans. Teh very presidnt handled it patheitacalyleaving it in hands of foreigners.
But can that structure be deconstructed?
Can it be understood critically?
Let us look at hte Arab revolutions. Let us see how they see the control structure, and compare it to how Mexicans see it. I will tell you, it will be like two sides to coin. Each side sees the us differently. One is somehow dominated on the oustiode by eh us, while the other, meico is dominated on the inside by the us...because Mexico is more a part of the conitne the us is on than the us is.
So they also both have different elements of power over hte us.
they must realize what those are.
Then wemsut analyze how the us is like the guards in this movie or experiment.
It also make sus queton authority.
Is authority such as under the regime of Mubarak i ti s obvious...one tha seems to stand up undethelight of real authority until we realize that actually it has been much liekthisexperiemnt.....just assuming hta becaues the prisoners are intehre andthe guards hve the power, tah twhtever htey do i sjsut to "keep the peace". to "keep order" i thinkis ntohin g scarier soemties thatn that itself.
Howver it is also scary to se parent sfor exaple, which is wehre we first lern authority, who cannot congtrol their children. That toois awful. Wht instills respect? PErhas feeling healthy adn completed. Whateve rtha takes i guess. And es, all fmailies willhave a different way of doing it. Adn soemhow in humanty we have gotten alogn fine that way. it is hte beauty of diveristy youvocoudl say, osmefmailies are laid back soe are not , some do it with corporal punishemtn soem vbelive staunchly agianst htat.
I jsu tcan't beleive how the gurad really bought into that. He thought of the whole belief system of the experimeters and tried to fulfill that ans his own sick needs at the same time.
i cannot help but htink of the new waves fo immigrants who come here to teh USA. Tehy often absorb adn feel immedately a system, asn sa ens eof right adn wrong. However htey ofetn regurgitate tese ideals and try to at teh samet ime fulfill theri own agenda . Bu t seohwo we feell an see that these go againt soethignbasically human. There is somethign really werid abo tit all. Somethign werid baotu teh way peopel try to jsut regurgitate wrods. ACt as if they understand. act asi fthey are doing soemthign good for the country, jsut as thisman thougth he was odng somethign good by puttin gorder. however he was losign track whilet hat happend ofhte reality of life. There was aman dying of daibetes. Tehre wer thigs goin on adn the slightes uprsising he fel t had to be controlled.
Thsi si also what the US doe swith other ocuntries who rebel. Sucha s after 9 11. We fetl we had to place the workd under ocntorl. Adn look at what we did. Look at hwo poer got to us. Yes we had the power, bt aren't we liekt he experietn?Isnt[ tehre a God above us, who knows tha tthis power we have is temporary? NOt aat all absolute, andthe mintue the game weras out, how will we look?
